Pray for inner peace to replace the chaos and anxiety that addiction brings.
John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Today we pray for inner peace for our addicted loved ones. As I have listened to the many testimonies that have come through the recovery ministry I work in, there seems to be a common theme - moments of clarity. A moment where God breaks through the haze of addiction and allows them to see a path out and gives them an ounce of hope that they can make it. Once they have made this decision they feel a peace come over them that they can not explain.
To make good decisions God must clear their minds and give them an inner peace to quiet the demons whispering shame and hopelessness in their ear. It is only in this peace that they can feel God’s love, hope and presence. It is this peace that gives them the presence of mind to reach out for help and seek recovery. What it takes to get our loved ones to this point is different for each person. Sometimes it is finding themselves in jail. Other times it is a near death experience. Everyone has a different rock bottom but it is usually atop that cold, hard rock they find God’s peace. That’s why we must stop enabling them and doing things to keep them from reaching out to God. If it is working for them to reach out to us, they will never reach out for God because we are filling the role of their savior.
Let us pray that they receive God’s peace and that they feel His presence as a guiding light out of the chaos and anxiety of addiction. May God’s peace give them the hope and encouragement they need to fight their way out of addiction. Let us receive God’s peace as well so that we can manage our own negative emotions appropriately and be an encouragement to our loved ones, pointing them back to Jesus Christ. Let us speak life and truth into them so that they believe that God loves them and will walk with them as they seek treatment. May they never buy into the lies of the enemy to the point they give up but instead find their strength in him.
May God bless you on this journey!
Precious Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our loved ones who are struggling with addiction. Lord, we ask that You grant them the gift of inner peace—a peace that can only come from You. In the midst of the chaos and anxiety that addiction brings, we pray that You would quiet their troubled hearts and minds.
Replace their fear and turmoil with Your calming presence, Lord. Let them feel Your love surrounding them, and help them to trust in You completely. May they find rest and refuge in Your arms, knowing that You are with them every step of the way.
Lord, we pray that as they move forward in their journey toward healing, Your peace would guard their hearts and minds, giving them the strength and courage they need. Let them find moments of stillness where they can feel Your comforting presence, and remind them that You are their source of peace, even when the world around them feels overwhelming.
In Jesus’ mighty name,Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Isaiah 26:3
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
Romans 8:6
"The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."
Psalm 4:8
"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."
These prayers are always so spot on. It helps me so much to read these prayers and to input my daughter’s name in the place of “they or them”, etc. These prayers that you write truly help when someone wants to pray but has lost their “words”. Such a blessing to get to read your writings.
