Ask for strength for them to resist temptation and cravings.
Dueteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Change is hard under the best of circumstances but it is especially hard when you are fighting to break free from addiction. Many people see drug addiction as a choice. While there is some aspect of choice involved, once addiction has taken control, it’s not an easy one. It takes a mountain of strength to break free. Physical illness, cutting off people they’ve been using with, having to look financial ruin and possible criminal charges in the face, rebuilding a life based on sobriety are all tough things to do. On top of all that they have to do it with out the comfort of the very thing they’ve been using to cope, their drug of choice.
Starting recovery requires immense strength, courage, and resolve. It’s not for the faint of heart. So let’s begin now lifting our loved ones up for God to impart them with the strength they need to resist temptations and cravings and to face the struggles they will undoubtedly encounter in early recovery.
Let’s pray also for strength for each other. Seeing someone you love struggle with addiction and even with early recovery is emotionally, mentally, and spiritually draining. It is so hard to be so powerless in the face of such a powerful disease. While we are powerless, God is all powerful and he can equip us and our addicted loved ones with the strength we need to overcome. Addiction doesn’t stand a chance when we allow God to fight our battles.
Precious Heavenly Father,
We come before You lifting up our loved ones who are battling addiction. Lord, we ask for Your divine strength to surround them, to hold them up when they feel weak, and to guide them towards the light of recovery.
Grant them the courage to face their struggles, the wisdom to seek help, and the resilience to overcome every challenge that lies ahead. May Your love be a constant reminder that they are never alone, that they are cherished, and that their lives hold great purpose.
We pray for the healing of their minds, bodies, and souls. Break the chains of addiction that bind them, and replace their cravings with a deep longing for Your peace and presence. Strengthen their resolve, and lead them away from temptation.
Father, give us, their loved ones, the patience, compassion, and unwavering hope to support them on this journey. Help us to be a source of encouragement and love, reflecting Your grace in every interaction.
We trust in Your power to transform lives, and we thank You in advance for the miracles You will work in the lives of our addicted loved ones.
In Jesus' name,
we pray. Amen.
Philippians 4:13"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Psalm 46:1"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
2 Corinthians 12:9-10"But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Joshua 1:9"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Psalm 18:32"It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure."
Powerful. All so true
It absolutely does take a mountain of strength! And only with “a love like his”, have I been able to break free!
Thank you Lord JESUS!!
